Do you Ruby (and CF?) 3

Posted by Neil on December 07, 2006

Sean Corfield has put out a call for anyone who claims to be an expert in both Coldfusion and Ruby.

In addition to this I am interested to see how many of you are both avid CF developers and Ruby developers?  If so, why did you start to learn Ruby?  What do you think it brings to the party that CF does not manage.  What would you change about it?  Have you used any Ruby/Rails in a production environment and how painful was it?

I started working with Ruby because my best friend was so into it. Once I started using it and Rails I felt like I’d wasted the past 5 years with CF. :( CF pays the bills but I really wish I was using Rails on a day to day basis.

I have a small internal site that I did for a previous employer and there was no pain at all putting it live. And that was a year ago, there are new tools (Mongrel) which make things even easier now.

I’m just starting to get into Ruby. Spent some time last week setting up a server running ruby on lighttpd. Got a couple of projects soon which are likely to be Ruby.

i have worked with cf, and now i prefer Ruby, because with rails development is a pleasure, with short times for programming and great results.
